This origami moon starts from a balloon base. The essential folding technique that you will need to apply is a modified version of open sink-fold.

You may use any kind of paper to fold this origami moon. Here I am using the same color paper for both the front and the back sides. But you could use one side color only paper without any problem. Make sure the paper
that you use is a square(all sides are equal and all the angles
equal 90 degrees). The paper I am using here is 20cm x 20cm square one. If you are become comfortable with this origami moon, you could try a smaller size paper.
